Currently Available Commodities:

  • Artichokes
    • Supplies are good. Quality is excellent, all sizes available, peaking on large sizes (12's, 18's).
  • Broccoli Florets
  • USA Broccoli
    • Overall volume is normal. Export volume is moderate. There is a very wide range in quality. Color is light to dark greyish-green, with occasional purpling, mostly with pale edges, some cateye and starry night. Stalks are thick to slightly branchy. Beads are medium to large, mostly even but some uneven. Crowns are domed with very slight knobby appearance, shape mostly round, very occasional misshapen. Good export quality.
  • Brussels Sprouts
    • Good supply, fair quality with light insect damage and elongated shape.
  • Cabbage
    • Available in good quality. Heat pushing volume up.
  • Carrot
  • Cauliflower
    • Supplies are steady and fairly normal. Quality is very good.
  • Celery
    • Volume is normal. Quality is good. Color is nice green but can pale down slightly internally. Stalks are normal to some slightly shorter height, with few leaves. No pith, no seeder, no insect damage at this time. Occasional light rust on bottom. Weights are good at around 60 pounds or more. Most fields peaking on 24/30 size, smaller sizes more limited. Very good export quality available.
  • Fennel
  • Kale
    • Supplies and quality are good on Kale.
  • Green Leaf
    • Good supplies. Healthy with nice color. Very nice quality overall. Weights 24-26 pounds.
  • Iceberg Lettuce
    • Iceberg lettuce volume industry-wide is moderate. Export volume is moderate to limited due to quality. Quality is average to poor for next week. Quality has dropped in part due to heat defects (rib blight, weakened condition, mildew from watering). Also some fringe burn, weak tip and salt and pepper. At this time we see some fairly clean fields for next week, but will have to watch carefully as they mature. Also, next week is holiday week which will affect harvest schedule. Regular orders only, and please advise ASAP.
  • Leeks
  • Romaine Hearts
    • Overall volume on hearts is good. Quality is poor to average. Tops are slighly open to slighly cupped. Shape is occasional ribby and twisted. Color is 70-80% Green 20-30% bleach. Seeders 1.5-inches and up to 3-inches. Occasional Sclerotinia. Potential for weather stress and mildew. Quality and sizing continues to be strong but with the heat we saw over the past few weekends we are continuing to see occasional fringe burn and internal burn in the hearts. The crews are doing all they can to pack the best product in the carton. As we continue into the summer production we will continue to see the potential for more tip burn/internal burn as well as twisting/seeder challenges. We will continue to keep you posted as quality and supplies may change due to the warmer weather which is expected to continue.
