A winter of rain, occasional hail and cold temperatures across California will likely throw wrenches into this year’s spring vegetable supplies, growers say. Salinas-based D’Arrigo Bros. Co. of California grows broccoli, cauliflower, and head lettuce under the Andy Boy label and other crops on 40,000 acres, said Claudia Pizarro-Villalobos, marketing, and culinary manager for D’Arrigo. Apple growers from across the country participated in the U.S. Apple Association’s Capitol Hill Day, meeting with more than 100 legislative offices on trade, labor, and farm bill issues.
